Looking at negative space

After my visit to the Escher museum, I went for a walk in the forest looking for negative space. It was pretty difficult to look at things the other way around. One really needs to train the brain and there's quite some training to do for me! But I quite liked the negative spaces that the tree tops make when the wind blows through. Here are some images.

I changed the photos to black and white, lightening the green and darkening the blue to create more drama in the negative space itself. I like the effect and the way how an extreme 3 dimensional subject can have a very different look when it's flat.

Now the tricky part will be to set up compositions myself in which the negative spaces present a certain subject itself, or show a pattern or a way to convey an added meaning of the photograph. Hmmm...
