Variety with a low sun

Here are some of the photographs that I took of my daughter in low sunlight. She wasn't feeling very well and I was in a bit of a hurry, but it sort of gives an idea of how the sunlight can bring special effects to a portrait. Thank goodness she is such a sweetie!

With the different angles it comes to show how you can actually choose the atmosphere of a photograph. With light from the side, the image has more contrast, giving it a  more dynamic feel to it. When the light is rimming past the subject, it places the subject more away from the background, giving more focus on the subject itself. If lighted from the front, the shape and texture of the face is less visible, but the photo itself has a very soft feel to it. I can't really say which type of lighting I like most. For now I think the most important thing is to be aware of it and start making more conscious decision about which angles to choose. This last photo is taken with light from the side and a reflector on the other side. I practiced my photoshop skills on it, I'm pretty happy with the results!
