I posted a few photos on the OCA flickr group a few weeks ago and got an email asking if this particular one could be submitted for publication in the Big Issue in the North! Here are the comments on why this photo was chosen:
It is always a pleasure to spot the work of an OCA photographer who has not previously featured in The Big Issue in the North. Added to this pleasure, in your case, is that your shot takes a different approach to the photographing of people outside than anything we have featured so far. Three things work particularly well for me as a viewer: the striking saffron yellow of the subject’s clothing, the directness of her gaze and the cultural interest of the story told by the caption.
It is such a nice surprise and huge encouragement to continue working on this course and developing myself through photography. Thanks!
