Because I spend a lot of time driving and doing the dishes, I thought it would be a nice idea to listen to some university lectures on photography. Jeff Curto's 'History of Photography' podcasts are exactly the type I was looking for. In about 20 2-hour lessons, he lays bare the history of photography techniques, the way it has been perceived by the outside world, what it has been used for, forms of art, gender, portraits, in other words, the whole shebang! Together with the book 'Photography, the Whole Story' this has given me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of the main events in the development of the art and given me a lot of reference points to think about and look at while I'm developing my own photography skills. It's been really good, and I have to say that my family really likes me wanting to do the dishes on my own!
