Last September, Photographer Ola Lanko won the prestigious Dutch Steenbergen Prize for her project 'Required Reading'. In this project Lanko aims at explaining the linguistics of images. On her site you can learn all about the syntax, morphology, pragmatics and semantics of things that can be seen.
I am amazed at the way she is able to explain how we look at things, what connects certain images, what happens when we see and recognize things and how we bring meaning to what we see. It is a must read for everybody interested in visual arts.
